General Messages

This is a "catch all" entry that I have added for all off-topic comments, questions, or miscellaneous messages you may have for me. I will respond to each one here, and welcome feedback from everyone (even peeps who disagree with me). This set-up is instead of listing my e-mail address here on my blog and keeps all communication public.

So go ahead and chat!

I can't remember if you said you were now subscribing to the PFO Journal, but there latest is out and has another good analysis of the problems with Beth Moore's teachings, including hermeneutics from the previous books discussed. This is the article that was planned for primarily addressing her twisting of Scripture. Some good stuff.

I don't actually have a subscription, but I buy individual issues from the PFO website. Thanks for the heads-up - I will definitely get the current one.

I think the collective love affair with Beth Moore has pretty much run it's course. Fewer and fewer churches are doing her "studies" anymore....she's become controversial enough that I don't think she's taken as seriously as she once was.

It's a shame, too, because she definitely has a teaching gift. Her older studies were quite good. Hard to believe she went off the deep end into charismania later on.

I just finished chapter 11. Under "spiritual deficiency" there are supposed to be several factors listed, but it starts with number 5 and goes to 6 and 7. I think there is something missing? :oD

Hmmm..very strange....now, since I sent it to you, I moved some things around and have done more revising, so that is now Chapter 3. But I must have taken out the numbering at some point, because now it is several paragraphs (starting with 'not praying') and seems to end where it should. I must have taken out the numbers.

Thanks for calling my attention to it, though!

Marie - thanks for your post on trichotomy vs dichotomy. You have a link to a "good defense" of trichotomy which denies me entrance. It is http://reformingbaptist.blogspot.com/2007/11/dichotomy-or-trichotomyhelp-me.html
Is it possible to obtain a copy of this defense? I have not written my book (yet) and a very significant element is this particular discussion. To me it has significance as to how we view ourselves before God. Also, is it Blogger pulling in my interest in Belarus or is that from your blog site? Thanks!

Hi Ray! Thanks for your comment. I haven't updated this blog in over a year, but I THINK I remember who the author of that blog was...I just messaged him on Facebook (I hope I have the right author!) Apparently in the time since I posted that link, he has made it a private blog. If I have the right author, hopefully he'll send me the article and I'll happily post it to you.

Oh, regarding Belarus....I had posted a few articles about an orphanage ministry there some time ago. :) Not sure if that (because it was "tagged" Belarus) is where it came from.

Hi Marie
Just following up. If the author on FB is unpublished - not something I can purchase at Amazon - then I wonder (while I wait) whether in your research you came across any published authors you might pass on. Name/book and I'll do the research. I read online somewhere that James Montgomery Boice spoke favorably of the trichot position. Amazon had his book - Foundations of the Christian Faith - for a mere $6 used and I snatched it up! His "defense" is almost apologetic, not in the sense of an apologia (Gk), but in the sense of, "I'm sorry I have to bring this up." Not very fulfilling. Any suggestions? Personally, I think the Calvinists shouldn't have followed their namesake on this particular matter. Stephen Charnok - famed Puritan writer - comes much closer. Much more fulfilling to my mind!
Thank you
Ray

Hi Ray,

I've been told the author of the article you're looking for is Will Dudding. I have messaged him on FB (he is not a friend of mine) and asked for the article....no...unfortunately, I have not read or even thought much about this issue in years, so I don't think I can recommend anything helpful. I'm sorry, but if he sends me the article, I will post it!
