The Apostle John, Aristides, Justin Martyr, Eusebius and Augustine couldn't have all been wrong...and they were all credobaptists.

Great article, Aaron. I'd like to link Part II later on this week, as well.

Last year, I posted a similar research I'd done on the Lord's Supper in the first centuries of the Church (also citing Eusebius and the Didache, among others). Fascinating stuff, and even more so when you look at how the liturgical rituals surrounding these two original sacraments later evolved.

Great article,

Do you have a link to the Lord's supper research you did? I plan to delve into that at some point:)

Hi Ma~,

Yes, here are the links to what I posted last year:

I'm sure if you look at the archives of SharperIron or Rhoblogy on the blogroll, they will have more and better articles. The description in the Didache was what really struck me, though - the early Church was so clearly memorialist. It sounds exactly like the way my church celebrates the Lord's Supper!
