Renewed Respect for the 'Blokey Bloke' Matt Redman!

He's completely redeemed himself in my eyes, and I removed my snarky comment about his song from Sunday's post:

"Watertight Scripturally" - I like that. A LOT. Would that more CCM writers would take heed.

He had to mention the other song that makes me wince.....John Wimber's "Isn't He Beautiful"...he just HAD to mention it......

You have to admire his humility. It's nice to see someone who doesn't get defensive and just dig in their heels.

Anything from John Wimber should make one wince - he was a heretic!

@ JTW - I was thinking the same thing! I mean, we all make mistakes, but Redman is arguably the most successful worship song writer in the world, and he admits he made a mistake and gets why it was questionable. Knowing how (unusually) Scriptural most of his material is, it really does give me that much more respect for him.

@ Glenn - yes; Wimber started Anaheim Vineyard, if I recall correctly. Much of the current error of the charismatic movement can be traced to him. His aberrant theology is, in fact, part of the reason that song makes me bristle (beyond the fact that it's just a stupid song). I doubt anyone else at church has ever heard of him.
